A sign in British Columbia on the river where eagles come
Making the earth sacred where we walk is the goal of The Path of the Feather. We have to transform ourselves to become seers, to see the landscape as sacred. Our own spiritual growth depends on earth and animals. The medicine wheel is our seed and atlas for change. When you make a medicine wheel you have to save the animals in your wheel which means you have to save whole earth. You have to save them because all of a sudden they are sacred to you, they are meaningful, they are the voice of your lover or the earth.
All the wild animals are being exterminated. Only the ones living in wildlife refuges will be saved. . The few remaining bears are prisoners in a small forest hemmed in by new expensive homes. They can not survive. Animals are also being exterminated all over the earth for healing and religion. The time of killing one animal for ritual is over. The animals are killed as their habitats are destroyed. We can use their bodies for a ritual to save the ones who remain to speak to us.
Animal habitats and the living earth must be saved for the earth to save us. On your vision quest you will get visions of a life path that will not destroy earth. Now we take for granted the destruction of earth. We are seeing it destroyed each day. We see animals becoming extinct and their habitats being eliminated. We hope this will change. When you do this work you see that the earth needs to be saved. When you do medicine wheels with animals you become aware of the destruction of the earth. The ritual itself teaches you deeply, it puts it in your body.
If you are interested in spirit animals and have one, do something to save it and its habitat. Join an organization, do art ritual, raise money, create a project to save your animal. Do one act to save your spirit animal.
